The slowest and least interesting of the series so far. I enjoyed the conclusion, but there wasn't a real mystery in this one.

“It would’ve been quiet a romantic, noble scene, if it weren’t for the dead body and retching footman I’m the entrance hall”

I think I’ve only held on this long in the series for chef, gus, and seth. This book did make me laugh

These books go by extremely quickly. It’s a pretty basic formula for each book: introduce a mystery, a dash of necromancy while attempting to figure out the villain, banter between the characters, love interest gets closer but then backs away, mystery is solved and repeat in next book.

Trigger warning: suicide and (time appropriate) treatment of mental illness. It should be noted that I dislike suicide used as a plot device and the way it was used knocks it down a star for me. Despite that, I still enjoyed the story overall

Great third book in C.J. Archer's Ministry of Curiosities series. Charlie and Lincoln are back and this time they have been assigned to find a missing person. I love all the banter between Charlie and the household staff. I also felt a little heat between her and Lincoln. I Can't wait to see what happens in book four!

I liked this one well enough. Once again, the first book heightened my expectations therefore making this one and the one before disappointing. I believe that the author has discovered that there’s not too many differing plot lines you can create to do with communicating with and bringing back the dead.

We saw development in Charlie and Lincoln’s relationship so I’m not sure where they’ll go from there. I’m interested to see what happens with Julia because it’s seems that she’s starting to become a foe.

I miss Gordon :((

Lincoln's angst about Charlie is getting somewhat old, made worse by the fact that he needs to stop treating his friends merely as employees over whom he has complete control. I suppose that this can be put down to the classicism of the setting, but bleh. This was enjoying to listen to in the background as an audiobook, but I want faster character development/progress, and more side character action.
