Criminal Intentions
Season One.
Episode One:
“The Cardigans”
Case: A string of young queer men turn up dead in grisly murders, all signs pointing to the ex-boyfriend

I’ve watched and loved crime shows since I was young. When I discovered there’s a serialised crime book series where each book is essentially an episode I was sold. Our two main characters and newly paired detectives are Malcolm Khalaji and Seong–Jae Yoon.

Malcolm Khalaji has been working at the B.P.D after some time in the army and a few years as a criminal psychology professor.

Khalaji carried himself like an old and battle-torn wolf, grave and fierce and solemn, the last one left of his pack and yet determined to defend his territory to the death, even when he could barely stand.

Seong–Jae Yoon is a transfer from the L.A.P.D and a former F.B.I profiler. From the glimpse we had at the end of the book has his own reasons for the transfer. I love when one of the characters has a mystery they carry with them. Beckett from ‘Castle’ was about her mother’s death. Callen from NCIS: LA was about his identity. The characters from Criminal Minds were being stalked by serial killers. I love when throughout the narrative, there’s a single plotline that needs to be solved and I can’t wait to discover what Seong–Jae is hiding.

He was a single captured moment, a stillness amidst the chaos and noise, a dark ghost in the world of the living. Monochrome in his paleness and dark clothing, standing poised as if the crow would take flight—or the spirit would fade away, as dead as the boy lying blank and empty on the pavement. Haunting, Malcolm thought.

This is going to be so epic

I am a little confused about this series. The novel was quite brutal but the characters were intriguing

This has the potential to get better so 3.5 stars it is. I know the plot till book 9 because my friend told me and got me interested in this 😂 The second last chapter sure was something.

This is a great start to the series. I have loved other Cole McCade books and I was intrigued by the series working like a tv show with seasons and episodes etc.

I'm looking forward to finding out more about the characters and watching their relationship unfold.

Reread #1
Lord how I love these two.

4.5 stars

Buddy read with B!

Yes this is me, reading yet ANOTHER slow burn where the MCs take about 10 million pages to boink and be an item...#WhyGod

I know..I'm doing this to myself.
I BLAME YOU NIKKI

But alas.... I loved it.
Q: Do I wish these guys boinked in this book?
A: Yes. Yes I do.

Q: Do I care that they didn't?
A: Not much...but I'm #GreedyForButtStuff

As for the plot...

Q: Was the case gruesome and grisly and very uncomfortable.
A: You bet ya!

Q: Should I have read this before bed?
A: Probably not but we learn from our mistakes.

Q: Why was I reading before bed?
A: Welllll.... because I couldn't put it down, that's why!

The aloofness, the secrets, the grumpiness, the case and the very faint UST that culminated into a HAWT AF kiss... #IRegretNothing

Diving into book 2 very very soon! Seong Jae and Malcolm are gearing up to be an epic couple. #FingersCrossed
