There was enough interesting things and surprises to keep me interested but I’m going to need Auren to step it up for me to love this series because at this time it’s a meh. I do like however how it shows someone breaking down and dismantling their beliefs and how difficult that can be.
Graphic: Confinement, Cursing, Emotional abuse, Grief, Rape, War, Child abuse, Death, Sexual assault, Toxic relationship, Violence, Gaslighting, and Infidelity
Moderate: Bullying, Sexual content, and Classism

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed reading this! But at some point I looked down, saw that I was on page 370 and still — almost nothing had happened.
There's some character and relationship development and I did enjoy reading about the soldiers and their time at camp but really, all of that could've been shortened.
We do get loads of fun reveals at the end of the book though, one of them I really didn't expect. Will continue reading this series but really, don't expect too much plot from this installment (and I'm saying this as someone who's always characters > plot).
Graphic: War, Toxic relationship, Blood, Emotional abuse, Sexual harassment, Violence, and Murder
Moderate: Misogyny, Sexual assault, Classism, Confinement, and Gaslighting
Minor: Rape and Pregnancy

Auren learns to look more at her self as a powerful person. She has trusted Midas for a decade to keep her safe because he did when she was down on her luck. She is seeing “cracks” in their relationship and she is analyzing that internally.
