The third in the series is the best I've read so far. It delved into a part of the character* that I've always wondered about and had my theories on. I don't know if that aspect will be discussed in subsequent novelizations, but I hope so.

*demons and demon possession

Unfortunately this book was so much worse than the first two and I was so bored and confused by the sudden supernatural aspects that I almost didn’t finish. Out of nowhere Dexter is possessed by a demon and no longer has his need to kill…which is the basis of what makes this series interesting. Without that it was just dull and a bit bizarre at times. This should prob be two stars but I think I’m biased because I love the show so much. Still interested in the rest of the books and hoping they get back on track!

I'm sorry, I wish I could put this more eloquently but, WTF?

This was not a great time.
I didn't really start liking it till I was like 1/4 the way through and then by the time I reached the epologue. I knew I wasn't going to be able to rate it any more than three stars, I could honestly probably give it two and a half, I'm being generous.

At one point I considered dnfing in it.
Jeff Lindsay was doing so well for me with the first two, I'm a little concerned for myself to see what's going to happen in the rest of the series now because I still have 5 more books to go. I mean, I guess at this point I do really want to finish the series just to say that I did and to see what happens and then I can watch the TV show fully and compare the two. I mean I could probably take a guess at, Eventually what happens but I'm going to just finish this, I can't have wasted my time on reading 3 books and not finish the rest of the series. I just can't. I feel like I'm being really harsh on my reviews and my ratings this year, but I told myself I would try to be more of a critical reader. Three stars isn't necessarily bad though. I mean it's decent. It's not a horrible,
I feel like the ending was a tad rushed and it was just really weird, like he took it to a level That was like, Just really strange and I was like, seriously? Did We needed to bring some sort of oddly Supernatural element into this?

Anyways, I'm going to take a break and finish the two other books that I'm currently reading and then go on to the next one, I'm really not in any hurry.

I got sucked into this novel more than any of the other two Dexters that I've read so far, and it's just as witty. However, I think the ending is way too sudden and abrupt, just like the second one.

How can I be this addicted to a series? Idk but I binged this 10 1/2 hour audiobook in less than 3 days.
