If you are looking for a complex plot then Richard Sala isn't going to give you one. His stories are merely a vehicle to create fantastic atmosphere, deliver fun moments, and draw women in spectacular predicaments. Cat Burglar Black is much more straightforward than his other work, but doesn't suffer because of it. Rather it allows him to use a different genre to feature many of the same kinds of scenarios that you'd see in some of his more horror driven books.

I liked the art, and the story was interesting... but... unless this is part of a bigger series, the ending was disappointing. And even if it's part of a bigger series, I thought the story could have been more than what it was. Shrug.

Dark in a way I didn’t appreciate and just... glaring plot holes that aren’t ever addressed.

I thought this was cool book. The art reminded me of European comics. I can't wait to read the next one.

This was in the adult graphic novel section of the library but I think it should be YA. I was expecting something more adult so I was disapointed when it turned out to be a pretty weak Nancy Drew type story. The drawing is nice though and the action sequences are interesting. More for 12-13yr olds.

How does this have so many good reviews? "Masterful"? Um, no. Jarring scene changes, zero character development, plot holes. I know it's meant for kids, but there's so much better out there than this.

Readalike: Lemony Snickett's Series of Unfortunate Events--Doesn't have the same dry humor and smart writing, but features young people caught in adult conspiracies, trying to find the truth and stay true to themselves.
Rapunzel's Revenge--female action heroes looking for their true parents. Similar dark feel throughout the book.
