This series is always a fun one to read. This book can be read as a stand alone, however, you will get a lot more out of it if you read the first two books.  The best parts are always the witty banter and the magic of the Renaissance Faire!  It always makes me want to leave everything behind and make a living vending at Ren Faire across the country.

I knew I would love this one because Mitch has always been a favorite since book 1, Well Met. I was also surprised to find just how much I liked April. If you're into the tropes of fake-dating and friends-to-lovers you should definitely pick this one up! Can't wait to see where this series ends up taking us!

Everything I want in a good romance novel. My favorite in the series so far! Although to be fair, I did somehow skip book #2. The good thing is that this sort of romance series can be read out of order, as each book focuses on a different person in the friend group finding love. As for spoilers, that's hardly a thing. Of course you know the couple that was the focus of book 2 end up together; that's then entire premise of the romance genre.
So this book, the third in a series of romances that center around a small town's local Renaissance Faire follows April, the introverted older sister of book #1's protagonist Emily. As a single mom, April is used to ignoring her own wants and needs to do what is best for her daughter and she knows the pain of betrayal and abandonment. She has ambitious plans to renovate her house, sell it, and move out of her small town as soon as her daughter goes off to college. She does not plan to fall in love with the local gym teacher/kilted wonder of the Renaissance Faire, Mitch Malone. But we all know about best laid plans...
Speaking of laid, the steamy scenes throughout the book are very satisfying, especially given Mitch's tenderness around April's self-consciousness about being older and having a scar from her car accident that served as the premise for her sister moving to town in book 1. Mitch understands that after two decades of self-sacrifice and independence, it's going to take a lot of work to help April open up again. The only problem is, will April let him put in that work?
The story follows one of my favorite romance tropes: fake dating to real dating. And although I got very frustrated with April for her own self-sabotage, I can definitely understand her reluctance to acknowledge that somehow her dreams for the life she planned changed when she wasn't paying attention.
Be prepared to feel all the feels while you read this. I highly recommend for all hopeless romantic ren faire nerds out there. You probably do want to at least read book 1 first to set the scene. And I'm definitely going back to read book 2. The author recently announced that there will be a 4th book coming out in the series and I can't wait.
