As a final book in a trilogy this had big boots to fill. It did that rather well! The ending remained a surprise 'till the very end and I truly find the magic system + different creatures interesting. I like how even the Lord Ruler was shown to have been more than just "pure evil"

Some general thoughts about this trilogy:
+ I enjoyed learning more about Hemalurgy and Ferruchemy in this one, esp Hemalurgy
+ The blurbs before the chapters were the most interesting in this book, because they revealed things in tandem with the story
+ I will probs revisit this world via the second trio of books
- I found the battle scenes eventually a bit boring, because they were all described in the same way (I did not need every Push and Pull to then mention which metal it was being done with)
- I realize these books did not all arrive at once, so the reader probably needed some reminding of what happened previously. I just felt there was a bit too much of that 'previous on'-stuff, to the point which stuff like Vin killing the Lord Ruler or how she lost her mother were said so often it became annoying.

In the days it took me to read this book, I had nightmares and felt a general sense of uneasiness and dread. I thought the ending was weak, but there were lots of great points in the story.

i will never recover from that ending. i’m writing this review through my tears, thank you brandon sanderson 😭 amazing writing, 5 stars all the way through, and i am so glad this was my first foray into brandon’s work.

sazed becoming God while having struggled with faith this entire trilogy is EVERYTHING to me. he was just as much a father to vin as kelsier was 😭!!! on that same note vin and elend dying has ruined me and i will NEVER recover, genuinely grieving i’m gonna miss those two so much

OHMYGOSH THIS BOOK - if you’ve ever considered reading mistborn PLZ IM BEGGING YOU DO IT

This was a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy, full of revelations and twists, with an ending you’d never guess but will feel deeply satisfied with(at least I am). Both heartbreaking and beautiful, I cried through the entire last chapter and epilogue. The story was weaved perfectly, so well thought out. I fear my 5 star books before this cannot compete, therefore this is officially a 6⭐️ read.

I’m excited to start the Wax and Wayne books but I’ll miss these original characters so much 🥲

Everything coming together was madness. I have one thing to say to Sanderson about this book regarding his foreword: You did it, you wrote a really solid conclusion to a high fantasy series.
I still don’t think Sanderson writes romance or romantic relationships particularly well, but I still appreciated the character development in other ways.
