This is the first of Robert's books that I've read which has supernatural beings, and she certainly knows how to keep you turning pages. I thought the struggles that Sasha faced were well thought out, and her progression in the story was congruent with her personality (something that I can't say is true for all books I have read). I eagerly look forward to the continuation.

the concept is nice, the characters are nice, the writing and pace are nice. you know what pissed me off? the constant mentioning of alcoholic beverages and food. they do anything or say three lines and suddenly they're eating and drinking wine, beer or cocktails.
bro you're fighting a goodness idk drink some juice get your vitamins.

anyway i like bran but sasha.... don't get me started. i hate her with a passion, she's the definition of pick me girl i want to poison her food so she gets diarrhea and has something to actually complain about. this is her book so you can imagine how pissed i was the whole time. sis if you don't know how to swim just drown

This was really fun to read. It really felt like just the beginning.

As many other reviews have mentioned, this story is old and tired Nora Roberts. Not a new idea in sight! I have read many of her books over the years but I hadn’t picked one up recently. I figured for old time sake, why not give her a try. The story was predictable, the characters unlikeable and unrelatable. The only character I actually liked was Riley and I wasn’t going to waste my time getting to the third book to read about her. I don’t even care what happens to these characters to pick up the next book. Both the mannerisms of the characters and the story arcs reminded me of trilogies of the past. I’m sorry but she either needs to get some new material or lay down her pen.
