Disturbing plot, simple writing with a lot of interesting repetition, plays with complex themes of legacy, freedom, violence, justice.

4.5 rounded up...dark, disturbing and bleak but with that McDonagh dash of humor, you're probably familiar with if you've seen "The Banshees of Inisherin" and "In Bruges". Especially the short stories woven into the play were utterly fantastic.

I genuinely find it hard to understand how a man can so effectively digust me to my core and then make me belly laugh immediately after.
I'm not sure I quite like this story, but it is undoubtedly a masterful piece of writing. Martin McDonagh was born to write dialogue, cause goddamn I was hooked very time any character spoke.
