A heartfelt and sometimes humorous take on mental illness, sexuality, and just being alive. I loved this book and appreciate the author's vulnerability and ability to speak so frankly about taboo, complex subject matter. As a queer person with major depression, social anxiety, and a history of shame/confusion around sex and sexuality, reading this book was validating and made me feel less alone.

I also always appreciate hearing about adults who are just beginning to explore sex and their sexuality. There's so much stigma around sexual inexperience and many of us who are "late bloomers" can feel immense shame about this (speaking from experience). I'm grateful to artists and writers who are willing and able to tell stories about later in life sexual exploration. The concept of virginity and the moral judgement we attach to it is not inevitable or necessary!

i feel so not alone! : ) i think especially from reading other lesbian experience focused books n comics, i felt like my experience wasn’t the norm, but this book was like a big nice hug. the running theme of depression and not doing enough and not being a “real adult” hit hard. i feel really inspired to have a happier life!
it was a little all over the place in terms of timing but i think that’s to be expected with something so emotional : ) it didn’t hinder the reading experience too much!

I've been wanting to read this for a while, and I couldn't be happier that this fit in with a reading challenge I'm doing.
Reading about Nagata's 20s made me feel so seen; I would never wish the feelings she felt about her body, sexuality, or personality upon anyone, but knowing that I'm not the only one dealing with them is very comforting. I think she's way more honest about her personal experiences than I could be and, even though they're really depressing to read about most of the time, she makes sure to add some humor to it all to make it a twinge more lighthearted.
I truly wish I had read this sooner.

This was really enjoyable and somewhat relatable at times!! I could relate to the author when it comes to feeling lost in life and not being able to leave your home willingly - I'm autistic.
SpoilerI also somewhat related to her but in a different way: I'm aroace and I also lost my virginity with two of my friends just to see if that was what was missing (spoilers: it wasn't) and that was surprinsingly revealing to my life. It didn't feel good, only awkward - it was basically how it went for the author, but for me it really was liberating; it told me I really was ace and wasn't faking it because I hadn't had sex before.
