Reviews with content warning for Mental illness - Untouchable

Both Hannah and Nate were complex characters, they had their own difficulties including depression, grief, insomnia and anxiety but they were also strong, kind, funny and really caring in their own unique ways. They almost cared too much for other people, to the detriment of themselves at points. Their only issue was the touch of miscommunication where they didn't fully explain what they meant or how they felt which led to misunderstandings and their brains interpreting and twisting the words as something other than what was meant. However, I loved how much they understood each other and could read each other.

I liked that the complexities around starting/having a relationship with an employer/employee were explored, showing the issues around power dynamics and how this can influence consent etc. It was also refreshing for Nate to talk about this with Hannah, and the level of guilt he had around this made it feel more honest and realistic, as did other people's initial responses to finding out about it.

Hannah's relationship with Nate's children was lovely, I loved how she treated them and respected them. I enjoyed all of the different family dynamics in this book, they were all unique but equally as realistic and showed the different ways family interact and love each other.

Overall a really enjoyable book, which handled some more difficult themes with care and consideration so it felt authentic and in keeping with the experiences of the characters.

I need to stop starting these books before bed, because they're charming and sweet and have such lovable characters that I lose track of time and then I'm finishing the book and it's way too late (early?) and I have Regrets. I'm very sleepy today. I have holds on the other books in this series, and I am not going to read them on a week night this time. Anyway, do recommend if you like nuanced characters and romances that are as much about family as the happily ever after.

untouchable is, thus far, my favorite in the series. a big reason is that this had the strongest characters.

i personally couldn't fully connect with the mmcs in the previous books; however, i really enjoyed the mmc in untouchable. typically, in a book that has an fmc with overthinking tendencies and insecurities, the mmc feeds into those habits and it causes a lot of issues. but nate was so understanding and patient with hannah and it was such a nice change of pace.

hannah as our fmc was such a great character! i was laughing at most of her interactions and inner dialogues. i know some people can find characters like this frustrating, but i loved her and felt so seen by her struggles. great representation as always from talia hibbert.

i loved the presentation of the workplace dynamic between a boss and employee. those boundaries were respected and acknowledged throughout the novel. i've personally never seen a conversation like this presented so, again, good way of branching out.
