Imma be honest with y'all, I skimmed the last like 40% of this. The temperature play aspect was interesting, probably the most interesting aspect of this book. Similar to previous books by this author that I've read, I found the characters to be more words than substance. Im closer to pinpointing why I think this author is not for me. One of those reasons is that there's so much telling me what the characters feel, think and do and not enough showing me. I also found the writing to be repetitive at points, like it lacked an editor to chopp off the redundancy.

Note: An ARC was provided by the author. The full review can be read on Dog-Eared Daydreams.

Prior to reading this book, W Winters was an author whose name and work I'd seen in passing, whether it book sites like Goodreads and BookBub or online e-retailers. I had yet to read anything of hers because when I did take notice of her, she already had an ongoing series, and I'm not a fan of jumping in the middle of series that are already a few books in. And then A Single Glance came along. The blurb intrigued me and I decided it was the best time to finally see if the author's writing merited the hype I'd read online. My verdict? Yes, indeed, she deserves it. I'm not saying she gets nothing but rave reviews--no author does--but a vast majority of the reviews out there do point out her talent for putting her proverbial pen to paper and for having her readers keep coming back for more.

Clueless me had no idea Jase and Beth's story was part of a larger universe. A quick peek at the author's Amazon page gave me a reading order that I now have jotted down on one of my notepads. But here's the thing: this book actually works as a standalone because while I was curious about one of Jase's brother and the guy's fiancée, this was very much all about Jase and Beth and the intrigue swirling around them. Winters knows how to weave the sort of tale that has you sitting up straight and paying attention, and while I love books that I can lean back and relax with, I live for those that have me on the edge. This book? It was...everything. There's a cliffhanger, but I'm going to use the time wisely by catching up on this insanely addictive universe A Single Glance is part of. Five stars. ♥

How I rate my books:
⭐️ I wish I didn’t read this or DNF
⭐️⭐️Not terrible but not great.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good, but wouldn’t read it again
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved, would read again, recommend!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ LOVED!!! can’t stop thinking about it, Why isn’t this a movie?!

Unfortunately I read this a few months back and can't remember the full details of it to give it a great thorough review.

Upon reading some reviews and the summary, I can sort of remember the plot and it was a good read. I remember it had spicy scenes, and a sense of mystery...? I do remember enjoying following the Cross Brothers storylines.

Would say give this series a chance.

This was free on google play books. The only reason I picked this book was because I needed something to read to/from work especially since work has limits staff bring personnal items.

Well...knife play wasn't something I was expecting to read when I started the first chapter.

When I got to the 20% mark, a few things weren't adding up. Where did the handcuffs come from? Wasn't she gagged with a cloth but now in Bethany's scene, she gagged with tape...which is it?

In chapter 1 it says one month earlier but now all of a sudden its a "I don't want her back there.." So, it's not a one month earlier than?

When I got to the 28% mark, I noticed how repeative everything seems. Again, how many ways can you say the same thing? Like I get it..seeking revenge for her sister but my God.. every paragraph virtually said the same thing, even the dialogue was repeating itself but from a different character.

I didn't like the sexual bargain. It tried to set up in early chapters than it goes "when the time comes, you'll be begging for me to fk you.." really? That's what your going to use to get your hostage to talk?

I took a short break between continuing this story, when i returned..I had no idea what the storyline was BUT turns out I stopped at the point of toying with sex just started..oddly enough I'm not complaining, though reading those chapters will sitting to eerily close proximity to co-workers and supervisors, probably wasn't a good idea.
