I love love love Dolly Parton but this book was terribly written and totally unbelievable. A girl comes to Nashville with nothing and magically hits a massive break 3 days in

It is hard to rate this one. I wanted to give it 2 stars because I feel like, what did I just read? I decided on 3 because I did like some of the characters in the book. This book started out great. It really pulled me in then it lost its way. I started to feel like there was absolutely no character development OR story development. It went flat. I pushed through hoping the story would come out. Mysteries would be solved. Instead, it stayed flat all the way to the end. I did not like AnnieLee or care anymore how it turned out. I lost interest. I did like Ethan, and I feel he was too good for her. Ruthanna was a sweetheart, and I wanted her to have more of a story. I read 400 pages to get to a few tiny pages of why AnnieLee was how she was, and it was so lacking in emotion for such a huge event.

Disappointed in this one.

The book was okay. I felt like it was written specifically for the purpose of turning it into a movie, and trying to capitalize on the success of A Star Is Born. Entertaining but not groundbreaking.

5★ JUST GIVE DOLLY ALL THE STARS!!! ★★★★★ I know she co-wrote it with James Patterson, but when you listen to the audio version (which Dolly helped narrate), you just KNOW that she truly put herself in it. I didn’t know where the story was going, and I loved Dolly’s character. I just love Dolly, period. This is a highly biased review. If you love Dolly Parton, it’s highly likely you will like this book. I mean, is there anything she can’t do⁉ No. No there isn’t.

At the time of this review, Run Rose Run has a 3.89-star average by 62,101 peeps. And here’s a breakdown of those peeps:
♪ 18,966 (or 30%) are true Dolly fans ❤❤❤
♪ 22,763 (or 36%) are Dolly fans with cramps

This was my first James Patterson read - but if I’m being honest I picked it because of Queen Dolly. I really enjoyed this story! It read like a movie and the accompanying soundtrack was just icing on the cake. 4/5 ⭐️!

I'm sorry to say I didn't really care for this one. I love love love Dolly Parton, and that's the only reason I stuck it out. I listened to the audio version in which she is one of the cast of narrators. But the narration felt disjointed and I didn't like it. Also, the story was just so-so.
teeny tiny spoiler:
SpoilerI want to punch people who dwell on someone's height. Annie Lee is supposed to be 5'2" in the book. I am 5'2". I am not constantly told I am small and I do not freak out if I hear it once in a while. That bugged the shit out of me.
