A quick read (literally), The Black Mountain is clearly designed to appeal to an audience that's not used to read and/or young people. The writing and story are simple, but the characters are immediately likeable and there's a strong sense of place. Yes, there are predictable elements, but it's a nice palate cleanser and exactly what I needed between some "heavier" reads.

Love these quick reads, great for when you’re in a slump or you just need a little something in between reads.

This one didn’t disappoint, great storyline and characters for such a short book it was packed and still had time to describe Tenerife and the volcano.

If your a fan of Kate Mosse and/or historical fiction this is a must!
