As I said, I didn’t want to have to read this one but the first one ended on a cliffhanger so obviously I had to find out what happened. They’re just not great books, and I found that the dialogue was really stilted and didn’t read at all like teenage dialogue, and everything happened so quickly. Also the twist was a bit shit because it’s just a really unsatisfying ending now and I feel like it was just done for the shock factor without really adding anything to story and basically just making the ending really annoying, because now all of Ivy’s chapters seem pointless. Wouldn’t recommend this duology, there’s much better books out there and I feel like these are only popular because of one of the author’s status.

Enjoyable read and satisfactory end to the duology. Sadly I did predict the ending, although I assume for many it will be a fun twist. Personally I think the writing could have used some further editing in points, some chapters covered things double and you could tell where the 2 authors wrote separately. I did love the setting and liked the cast of characters. I think for many teens this would be a suitable introduction to dark academia.

I completely forgot the entire plot of the first book before reading this. It didn't seem to matter too much though
