A chilling mystery following Alex's trip on the Southern Cross headed to a mining colony on Titan, where the protagonist's sister died. This scifi mystery/horror is by turns very effectively claustrophobic and disturbing without losing focus on the main mystery. I have no idea where the series will go next and I'm kind of scared to find out.

Spooky sci-fi cosmic horror. Nice color work. Nice use of geometric shapes, particularly triangles. I will look forward to reading volume 2.

I have never read a comic before, so this was my first. As far as firsts go it wasn’t bad at all. I did get confused a few times as to what was going on, and who was talking. I had to go back and re-read to get the context. I assume that partly due to being unfamiliar with how comics are written.
The art work, however, is very good. I think I enjoyed looking at the comic a lot more than I did reading it.
As for the plot, I feel almost as if I had entered into a story already being told. However, I believe this is 1-5 in the series? I am not sure how it works. I was often unsure what was going on, and I wasn’t left with any real need to continue with the series, I wasn’t 100% sure that the end was even a cliff hanger…
Well, anyway, like I said. Not bad, but I am not entirely sold either.
I received this title from Netgalley and the Publisher for free in exchange for a review.

Started out a little iffy here and there, some scenes seemed to skip ahead a couple lines of dialogue occasionally which was weird, but it definitely ended up amazing and feeling just like watching a movie. I HIGHLY recommend checking this out and I can't wait to check out anything else Cloonan has worked on (especially the new Punisher series)!

Think space opera meets closed room murder mystery and you have Southern Cross. This is a solid first volume for a new series. The art has an almost hallucinatory feeling to it in terms of lines and colors. The plot is unveiled at a good pace and keeps you engaged.
The story follows an ex-convict who is on her way to retrieve her sister’s remains after an “accident” on Titan. While on the trip to Titan she starts to uncover what has happened to her sister and others on these trips back and forth to Titan. The story definitely takes a turn about halfway through this volume into the supernatural realm, which is actually quite interesting.
This volume has me leaning in. I will definitely read the next volume.

I really enjoyed reading this one. In fact, I was into this so much, I read the whole Volume in one go. Becky Cloonan's writing is full of mystery, thrill and suspense. Like old school sci-fi horror. Definitely has an Alien or The Thing vibe to it. The rather old school-ish drawings by Andy Belanger nicely add to his and the brilliant colouring by Lee Loughridge set the mood just right. I liked how Loughridge varies the background colour whenever something "specific" happens (can't say more here without spoilers). The end of Volume 1 is of course a question of personal taste, but I for one liked it.
