this first part was soooo cute ! i’m kinda upset it wasn’t made into an ova or sumn bc it’s just so silly i love them sm <3

(though i don’t really understand why they were so intent on making dazai play the bomber bc then doesn’t atsushi already know what dazai looks like

We're in it now, y'all.

Since starting the anime, and learning that these existed, I knew they had to be my birthday present to myself this year. This series has become one of my top five, and half the book being dedicated to one of my favourites (Ranpo) makes it hit so hard. The adaptation for this did it justice, but seeing the motivations of characters is always the best part of light novels for me, particularly ones you don't get to see often. I definitely wouldn't recommend these as an introduction to the series, the manga/anime are the better way to enter, but these side stories that fill in the gaps are phenomenal and the first half definitely makes this worth it on its own for the motivations behind the opening to the anime that we get.

All in all, I'm so happy to have been able to grab this.

fukuzawa and ranpo meeting each other and in a way saving each other is quite literally the best damn thing to have ever happened in fiction i didn't expect to smile and tear up so much from this origin story but oh well. seeing ranpo as a plucky little teenager trying to stay brave and positive despite his shitty circumstances was so heartwarming :') i love the ada so much

on a happier note, mi è piaciuta un sacco anche la storia iniziale anche se dazai si riconferma un cessone perché WHAT DO YOU MEAN TIRARE ATSUSHI NELLA GABBIA DEGLI ORSI PER L'ESAME D'ENTRATA MA IO NON HO PIÙ PAROLE SOLO INSULTI

E POI ceh mini oda era inaspettatatissimo voglio piangere il mio ultimo oda content era stato vedere l'adattamento anime di dark era un anno e mezzo fa e due panel in croce dove viene semi nominato nel manga ok basta torno a piangere
