Another small River tale. Only this one was just a little bit better than the last one. In this one I got a hint of what we might have seen in a 2nd or 3rd season of Firefly before we eventually got to the Serenity movie. Still not quite deep enough. 3.5 of 5.

I love slice of life and this comic book is just that! A couple pages of life at Serenity and can I tell you how much I love River? haha :)

This is definitely one of the better short issues of the Serenity series by Dark Horse. The artwork is more stylized than some of the prettier stuff like you see in the first two volumes but it seems to fit the story pretty well. And FINALLY the humor is there like I expect out of a Firefly story. I honestly found the humor pretty flat in most of the others (The Other Half and Float Out to be specific) but the emotional conenction was spot on in Downtime. It's essentially just a short scene that occurs while the crew is waiting in a snowstorm but it's cute and funny and very enjoyable. And the moment with River and Book at the end was as awesome as those two characters can be together. Definitely worth a read if you're a fan and it is a really fast read.
