These books are so short yet so easy to get sucked into. The kind of books that are like, really interesting but in a simplistic way. They don't have to be amazing or mind-blowing. Just fun (and spooky) enough. This was the perfect winter read. (It would make an awesome fall read as well)

This is a scary adventure for any reader (no matter the age), you just have to love ghosts and I am sure you’ll love this book!
I’ll have to admit that I haven’t read anything previous of this author, Victoria Schwab, but it seems she has a very well known series called The Shades of Magic. This is the second book of the series City of Ghosts, but I can assure you that there are enough hints and information about the characters and the previous story that you will not feel lost at all!
Cassidy has a special power after almost being drowned in a river, she can see ghosts! So, she has decided as an exchange for being alive that she will try to help all the ghosts that are trapped to trespass to the next “step”. She is lucky to have a very loyal friend Jacob, the friend that rescued her! So in this adventure we will travel to Paris with Cassidy and her family to discover this enchanted city, of course there will be a lot of ghosts involved, but let’s admit it, who doesn’t love ghosts?
I’ll have to say that I finished the book with just a couple of hours, so it was a quick read and I was so glued to the story that I didn’t stop till the last page. It was a very interesting read, I don’t normally read adventures but this was addictive and hunting, I loved it!
The characters are very well defined and interesting, I don’t know much about Cassidy’s parents or the mischievous cat but I hope we will know more about them in the next book. There are so many plots in the story that I think that’s what makes it so addictive; the different places they visit in Paris with some very interesting ghosts on them. Jacob’s story, even if Cassidy considers him her best friends, she knows really little about him and the possibility of him turning bad is not just a bad dream! Of course then we have the bad poltergeist that Cassidy will have to help, but even this story is interesting and it felt real, not simply a fantastic plot.
That’s what it surprised me of this book, is a fantasy book, but all the parts of the ghosts and their stories could be totally real and it made the story really interesting and with a human touch.
Tunnel of Bones is a very worthy read, no matter the age you have you simply have to love a good story!
