Tori got roped into spending the Christmas holidays with Aaron's family and the rest of the guys. Everything should be normal, but when they arrive at their house, which looks like a castle, in the academy grounds, things aren't as idyllic as they thought. There is something in the woods, something that's attacking the students, and Tori and her guys need to figure it out and fast before death claims one of their own.

I'm missing sleep because of this series, but I can't seem to stop reading it.

I am not kidding when I say that this is my favorite in the series so far!

It really ramped up what makes this series so special: it has excellent characters and it is brilliant at building stories that are self-contained while also building upon the overarching story in a satisfying manner.

It's a really fantastic series and I'm enjoying myself immensely, so much that I already started Slaying Monsters!

Okay not as good as the others I felt, maybe that was because they didn’t act as much as a team. I also ship Zak and Tori, I agree with saving Ezra and understand that this needed to happen to develop their relationship but I don’t want them to date.

Listen, yeah? This was a great addition for the sole purpose of moving the romance and demon mage storylines along. But that's it. A whole sorta throwaway story written for the handful of scenes necessary for the plot to progress.

Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was I as involved as I was in the first 4 books? Not really, however, the necessary scenes I mentioned were absolutely lovely.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series and how it ends. I see more angst and heartbreak ahead, but this author knows what she's doing.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.
