The story in itself is good. A classic criminal roman.
The characters are rather flat which is typical for time period. While it is still sexist, I was surprised at how capable the female protagonist was portrait, despite being an old book by a male author. Sadly, </ she was downgraded to the love interest of the main character in the end.>
Overall a nice short classic.
