Something about the climax felt weirdly passive and not cathartic enough for me, but I still enjoyed this a lot. It just WORKS for my brain.

I love these book so much. I emotional roller coaster that it takes you on is hard at some point but Anne manages to insert just enough innocent humour.

Marked in Flesh brought the war between HFL and the Others - plus Others-friendly humans - to a excruciating stop!

Holy crap this book was GOOD. Absolutely on the edge of my seat with each chapter wanting to know how sh*t was going to go down.

+ Humans were messing with Others and getting more confident and daring in each book. Honestly, I was getting hungry for some good-old retribution. (Yeah, I am not cheering for the humans, big surprise.)
+ Focus was shifted from cassandra sangue to other problems. I was getting bored with them being the main plot element.
+ Story was not focused on Simon and Meg. Some would say this is not a good thing, but I liked how the plot expanded and other characters were given place to grow. And by shifting attention from Simon and Meg I felt less frustration when their love story didn't progress a lot.
Dislikes:
- Some phrases and facts were repeated over and over. (This was the problem in previous books too). For example: if I drank a shot whenever 'Namid's teeth and claws' popped out, I would be stinking drunk in no time.
- I thought we would learn more about The Elders.
Marked in Flesh was my favorite in The Others series so far. Anne Bishop dared to expand the story beyond familiar characters and it payed off (in my opinion). I can't wait to find out will Others and humans live in harmony in the sequel.
