Enjoyable writing, interesting premise, lovely and relatable characters. The reflections on marriage from Douglas and Father Pete especially were touching and felt extremely true to life.

However, I found myself enjoying Jacob's chapters a great deal less than the rest - the really dark teenage angst and seriously life-or-death stakes felt weirdly out of place.

This book is incredibly different from the show, unfortunately not for the better. Beyond that, the narrator has also boiced some very damaging books by “conservative” figureheads which was a major turnoff.

if you're thinking about reading this book because you love the show, you have to know going in that the show is more inspired by, rather than based on the book.
The book is good.
Didn't turn out how I thought it might, and I appreciate that.
But the show bares little resemblance to the book.
