This book was beautifully written at times. The plot dragged and I’m not sure how it won a Pulitzer.
And by the end it has you sympathizing with a damn Nazi which had me feeling very uncomfortable.
Don’t read unless you like historical war fiction.

I did like this book, but it was a slow read, and I struggled with how I felt about one of the main characters. I didn’t like what he was doing but at the same time, I knew he had no choice, and ultimately was very sad at what ended up happening. It’s not often that a book can shock me, and this one SHOOK me at the ending. Overall, I liked it but I wouldn’t reread and I wish it would have had an underlying subplot to make it more interesting.

Loved this book! San Malo really came alive and I enjoyed the slow build of multiple story lines. Marie is my favorite and I appreciate that the author chose to portray a blind character properly.

Really a beautiful book. I read it right after Demon Copperhead (also an excellent book) which felt to be largely about the ways that adults can be cruel to children. There are cruel characters and dark parts of All The Light We Cannot See, but the kindness and nobility of the characters really shines through. Emotional, gripping, sad, beautiful, and incredibly hopeful.

A poignant story that explores the power of knowledge and connection and the importance of free will and making choices based on what you believe is right.

The descriptions used, especially for Marie-Laurie’s chapters, help make this a truly immersive read.

A powerful novel that makes you think. A must-read in today’s world.
