I'm don't think that I've ever been at just the right moment in my life, with just the right book, to feel truly fortunate to be reading it. I suspect that happened a fair bit through childhood, but I wasn't at a point to recognize it. I felt that while reading this book and looked forward to any moment I had each day to pick it up.

Everything I heard about this book was true! The prose the style the story the characters. They are rich and memorable and will stay with me for some time!

I'd really give it a 3.5. I enjoyed it, but I was pleased to finish it. Writing and imagery was great, but time periods jumped around a lot and reading on Kindle, it wasn't easy to go back and forward to check details. Interesting relationships between characters.

Haunting and beautiful. Listened on audiobook & will probably go back at some point & read the print version to savor it in a different way & make sure I didn't miss anything. If you haven't read this yet please do, it is fantastic.

Brilliantly written with prose that had me rereading paragraphs in order to enjoy it again. I won't be able to get these characters out of my head for a long time. it's a must read.
