The author needs to find more varied ways to let the protagonist display his code of honor and chivalry. Simply reacting to every situation in a predictable fashion is like the plot has some predefined trajectory. I like the willingness to stand up to any situation for the betterment of even people he doesn’t know but he needs to be a bit more proactive rather than fall into one situation after the other...
