This book is about a single mother of 5 daughters who end up leaving her and then all come back. There is SO MUCH DRAMA in this book and a lot of tragedy, but the different characters were developed enough for me to want to know what happened to them.

Calling quits on this one. Perhaps something is getting lost in translation, but it's getting too repetitive and reading this book has become a chore. The writing isn't horrible, I've just completely lost interest and don't care what happens to any of the MCs.

I see there were a lot of negative reviews about this book. I enjoyed reading about how the dream lives of the daughters were not what they thought they would be. I enjoyed the story and the premise that home is a safe place- a place to return to when life is not all you thought it would be- and a mother's love is forever.

Honestly, I started reading this after I have read the reviews which were pretty horrible. The book, even though is obviously not a masterpiece, wasn´t nearly as bad as it seemed. It´s a nice light read, even though the plot is repetitive and maybe cheesy, for me it was a pleasant read.

The strength of women

I chose this book originally because it was a Kindle unlimited book that had audio. As I stated to listen to it on the first day of my commute, I ended up listening a total of 4 hours because I was HOOKED. The story starts out with a woman and her children but you soon realize a pattern of the children in the book. Layer, the book breaks into sections: beginning, each child, then the return. It is a book of great love, great strength, great tragedy, and family . Read the synopsis and see if it's for you. I read this on kindle and now I want the physical book. I wish I could read this again for the first time⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I read the English translation and loved it. I feel that nothing was lost in the translation as it is so beautifully written. It is a lovely story of 5 daughters that leave their little Greek village to make a life for themselves. Their choices are driven by love but not necessarily for the right reasons. Each chapter follows a daughter through life to see what brings them back to their home village in the end. Definitely a book that I couldn't put down.

Five daughters grow up at the foot of Mount Olympus. One by one they go off to meet their destinies. As each story is told, you see the cost of the choices they make - and the prices they are willing to pay to be forgiven
