Step 1- read your trigger warnings and don’t say you weren’t warned.
Step 2- enjoy. This book is FULL of morally gray (morally black???) characters, people we love and love to hate… I thought about this book for days after I read it. I’ve now read it 3 times and my thoughts on the characters change every time. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the series has in store.

OK I enjoyed this book but the FMC and MMC drove me nuts. In a good-ish way but you just want to bang their heads together.

Like girl, we get it. Becoming his source is not what you imagined for your life. But quit being such a petulant brat. Open up and be honest.

And bro, we get it, she isn't submissive and obedient. But tell her what's going on and she'll hop on board!

And any second one of them makes headway the other fucks up the progress they were about to make!!!! Enough already!

But despite the aggravation they stir up you just need to know what happens next! So clearly I have to dive into book 2 immediately.

master/slave trope ain’t for me.

if you like it this book will be for you, because in general it was really good until this part.

“I understand…Master.” She knew the word should taste bitter on her tongue, but to her horror, it was sweet and wanted.
“Good girl,”

“Act properly, Tessa,” he murmured over his glass. “I will not have my Source seen pouting and sulking about.”
“Of course, Master,”

I recently completed a re-read of this on audio and it was amazing!

✨ "Maybe you're right, Tessa," he mur-mured, his lips working their way to her neck, his tongue tasting her as he moved. "Maybe I don't have any control, but in this? This is the one place I won't cross a line if you tell me to stop. So tell me. Tell me to stop if it's nothing more than the bond."

“I'm waiting, little storm."

Rain of Shadows and Endings (Book #1 in the Legacy series) by Melissa K. Roehrich was well, WOW! I went into this book expecting dark, and let me tell you, this was like DARK (definitely suggest reading the trigger warnings before starting this one). There were definitely some new tropes for me, such as enemies with benefits? I think I can call it that haha. I really loved the complexity in our characters and that absolutely nothing was sugar coated. I felt engaged the entire time, between the twists and turns, and I loved our FMC. I definitely went through a range of emotions, but that last 15-10% had me absolutely SHOOK. I absolutely ran to pick up book 2 after that.

I read until page 421 convinced that Theon was the villain and the real romantic interest was going to make an appearance.

Unfortunately it seems that we are supposed to enjoy reading about their abusive relationship? 60% through the book the plot wasn't progressing and the characters weren't developing.
