It's the first time I like poetry books so much.

At this point, my opinion about poetry books should be clear. However, there was something in this one that made it a bit better than the rest. Maybe it's more relatable. I could find myself on a lot of the pages, where I usually can't connect with the characters of the book. this one really hit differently. Not enough to love it but enough to appreciate and enjoy it.

I will never grow tired of Lovelace's words. Ever. Just stunning. Does anyone else screenshot/take pictures of half the poems while reading or just me?

Amanda Lovelace's poetry collections in the you are your own fairy tale series are too dark and moody for my taste.

I definitely enjoyed this book more than ‘the princess saves herself in this one.’ I found Break your glass slippers to be a story of strength and empowerment. I really loved the format of a poem from the princess followed by a poem from the fairy godmother with words of wisdom and encouragement in the first half, but then in the second half the fairy godmother is no longer needed as the princess learns to be brave on her own. I also really liked the illustrations paired with the poems and I appreciated the courage and emotion that went into these poems. Overall enjoyed this poetry book!!

Not to pun, but Break Your Glass Slippers is a CHARMING collection of poetry. It felt very thoughtful and empowering. I’ve always been a sucker for a fairytale, but I also strongly believe there are many types of happily ever afters. This is a road to happily ever after that I can get behind.
