I went into this expecting a lot more “poetry” than I got and I think that was why I felt so disappointed. There were a few pieces that stood out to me (On Memory and On Faith) that I did quite enjoy but it couldn’t save the collection for me. I wanted more poems like those than pieces that just felt straight from a ChatGPT log.

Personally, I don’t mind the idea of using AI as a starting point as long as there is some human work put in as well, and this just didn’t feel polished enough to hit that. I think it was still worth the read, but I can’t see myself reaching for the entire collection again.

God damn. In equal parts whimsical, lovely, heartbreaking, hopeful and existentially horrifying. Dan doing Dan things, really.
