Decent book, cute little fluffy romance. A little too much smut for me, I flipped past the last several scenes. Not realistic for the period really at all, but a happy story.

Lord James Warren, Viscount Sudbury is content, if not happy, to live the life of a recluse, only making yearly, short trips to London to visit his family…and to satisfy a need he can never admit aloud. James’s safe, isolated world is turned upside down when his niece and nephew beg him to help a friend of theirs.

Kyle Allen needs to leave London, and fast. The lover who caused Kyle to break from everything and everyone he ever knew has become so abusive he can no longer bear it. He has nowhere to go, so he reluctantly takes the aid offered to him by his friends’ handsome uncle.

Close quarters bring to light forbidden desires and it’s not long before James and Kyle must choose whether the chance at love is worth the risk of losing everything.

Illicit attraction ups smoldering sexual tension in Rowan McAllister’s engaging Regency romance. A Promise of Tomorrow is a romantic, heartwarming, and compelling read that I couldn’t put down. James broke my heart with his self-imposed isolation. He doesn’t want whispers to surround his family if rumors about his sexual preferences came out, but at the same time, he can’t help but fall in love with Kyle. It’s easy to see why, too. Kyle is absolute sweetness personified and Ms. McAllister made me feel like I was there with James, wanting to rescue Kyle. Fleshing out A Promise of Tomorrow is James’s family, who are every bit as endearing as Kyle and James.

With a dash of danger added by Kyle’s ex-lover and the realities of intolerance staring both heroes in the face, A Promise of Tomorrow has plenty of drama that will keep you turning (or scrolling) the pages. I was rooting for Kyle and James the entire way and finished A Promise of Tomorrow a well-satisfied reader.

A v. middle of the road novel with lots of old skool romance vibes. There is nothing particularly special abt the story of the Viscount who rescues and falls in love with a younger dude that is in trouble.

The main reason why I lowered the rating was that one of the MCs cried A LOT. Per my calculations, he cried every other chapter. Once, he cried twice in the same chapter!

TL;DR: An average historical M/M romance that didn't wow me, but wasn't horrible either. I borrowed it from the library.
