Das Buch verspricht den Leser*innen, ihnen zu zeigen, wie das Leben im Mittelalter war und will mit Mythen aufräumen. Leider werden die immer gleichen Mythen oft doch nur neu aufgewärmt und nur ein bisschen anders verpackt. (z.B.: "das Mittelalter war dreckig und hat gestunken" oder "die haben alle Bier getrunken, weil das Wasser so schlecht/verdorben war")
