Fun and tense mystery novel. Definitely a darker YA book with mentions of some heavy topics, all within the scope of a murder mystery. Felt inspired by the Seriel Podcast and other murder podcasts with its unique writing techniques.

Gosh this book was so good! It was my first mystery and I was OBSESSED. I was putting the pieces together myself and it was so much fun. I LOVED Pippa she was such a smart dumbass and I love reading her pov. Ravi was such sweetheart and i loved seeing him tease and support Pip. And Pip’s friends, all though we didn’t see much of them were such amazing people. I love the characters she surrounded herself. Plus it actually made me care about straight people?

not surprised that it wasn't my favorite, I don't normally like these kinds of books (I did like kill joy (the. 5) though)

I am curious what the next two books are about, given she solved the case.

did I like this book? it was fine, the characters were good and the book felt really thought out

would I recommend it? it's good if you like mystery books, but if you don't like mystery books I wouldn't

will I read the next two books? my sister would probably kill me if I didn't, I'm also curious about what's going to happen(I also really like Ravi)

This book was very entertaining and had some great twists. I always like when mystery stories sprinkle clues towards the true ending throughout, especially when they aren't obvious, and then when the reveal comes you remember the small details and see that the author did a great job of paving the path forward while you were already walking on it. This happened several times in my read through, and although some of the clues were obvious and stood out to me, the ones that weren't made for a great twist and ending that were satisfying. My biggest criticisms of this book are that the main character is named Pippa despite being American and that she is capable of so much more as a detective than she really should be considering she is a high schooler who has never done this before. After reading, I learned that this book was originally set in the UK as the author is British and that it was changed to America for the US publication, and my only thought was "wtf why?" It really didn't need to be changed in this way and I wouldn't have minded her name being Pippa as much (I still mind a little because I think it's an ugly name) if she was British in the edition I read. Overall it was a fun and entertaining read and I will be tuning in once the TV adaptation drops.
