a very good book, especially considering when it was written. it was way ahead of its time. the characters were incredibly realistic. they were lovable but definitely flawed. this book could’ve been nonfiction because of how real and natural the characters and plot were.

I paired reading the physical copy with listening to the audio book because I was having a little trouble getting into the dialogue… cannot recommend the audio book enough. She brings the characters to life!

A work of beauty with sparkling, vivid prose and equally vivid characters. The sheer skill and talent behind this book (because I do think having an ear for dialog is, in part, a talent) is staggering. It's not a romping adventure... more like a walk through blooming trees in the spring. And it does that very well! I could feel the sunshine and the rain and I never found it dull, even in slow moments.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I did see the movie a few years ago but I didn't have to use the movie in order to visualize the characters. Janie's journey was one filled with so much sadness, love and every emotion you can think of.
