Very special story. As a non-native speaker from Europe, the English is sometimes a bit hard to understand - especially when sentences are written in dialect.

The sections of Kya living by herself in the swamps wasn't appealing to me, while the murder mystery was, and there wasn't enough murder mystery to keep me reading to find out more.

Took me a while to get into it but it is such a well-written novel-can’t believe it’s a debut. Kya’s [the protagonist] life in the marsh brought vivid and captivating descriptions. She However drove me crazy with her predictable romantic advances which ultimately bore me to a degree where I was rolling my eyes enough, I feared they would remain at the back of my head but I digress. The random A.H. poetry exerts were a delight and ultimately Kya surprised me and I was given a deliciously satisfactory ending -licking my fingers as we speak.
