Erstaunlich. Wie beim alten Mann und das Meer, hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass mich eine Schachpartie fesseln könnte.

سرعة الإنفعال

كانت هذه الرواية القصيرة بالنسبة لي بمثابة بحث أدبي في العلاقة بين الثلاث عناصر السابق ذكرهم من خلال شخصية اللاعبين Dr. B و Czentovic، حيث تميل كل العناصر عند اللاعب الأول إلى الإرتفاع، على العكس تمامًا من اللاعب الثاني، ومن هذا التناقض ربما أراد Zweig دفعنا إلى إستنتاج شيئا ما عمّا يكسبه/يخسره الإنسان الموهوب إذا كانت له حياة عادية نسبيًا (اللاعب الثاني) أو إذا تعرض إلى حدث *عصيب* في حياته (كالعزلة الإجبارية والتعذيب الذهني لللاعب الأول في ظل الحرب العالمية الثانية من قِبَل النازيين)
