Wow, what a fantastic thriller with lots of twists and turns that I never saw coming. Having not seen the movie, or read any of the Alex Cross books, I was hooked from the first word until the last. I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of these.

I am shocked and outraged that I was hoodwinked by the Great American Read to read this book. The writing was juvenile and the character development was pathetic. Truly should be in all dictionaries under “the opposite of show, don’t tell.” I wasted 8 days of my life.

Ugh...I hate that I didn't love this book. For all it's popularity, I simply don't understand how people drool all over this story. Alex Cross is a compelling protagonist, but I would like to have seen far more of his human element come through. That is an understandably difficult thing to accomplish and it's hard to offer a coarse opinion. I sympathize and I have no answers. The only benchmark I have is in other author's work. Other authors do it for me.
