Another great installment in this series.
But it did lose a star for me in the first half because Helen was so tired & depressed that I actually started to feel the same way & though I know it was necessary to the plot I felt like I was walking through quicksand, yet I kept going cause I really wanted to get to the other side.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the whole introduction of the dreaded "Love Triangle" which seems to be so necessary to YA books these days.
Again I understood the necessity but didn't really connect with Orion or feel anything between him and Helen as I did with Lucas & Helen.
Having said all that the story really pushed forward in the second half and the action and revelations were really brilliant and exciting & and have made me eager for the next installment.
I also loved getting other characters POV which were fantastic to help drive the story forward and gave us an incite into what was happening with other aspects of the story.
Would have loved a little bit more Claire & Jason from their perspective.

Mas lento que su predecesor, Dreamless es un libro de inicio lento. Hay mucho drama de por medio entre Lucas y Helen porque no pueden estar juntos. La familia Delos me saco de quicio par de veces porque sentí que se preocupaban mas por la misión de Helen que por la misma muchacha, pero al menos se suavizan un poco casi al final.
El nuevo personaje Orion me encanto. Helen se merecía alguien que se preocupara por ella, que fuera su amigo en esta horrible misión, y si de paso se ve bien... ;)
La sorpresa del final fue bien sin volverme loca. Pienso leer el ultimo libro de la serie para ver como queda, pero me pareció que este segundo no sobrepaso al primero.

Dear God this was a hot mess.
This is exactly like Twilight, except Greek mythology. And it's even worse somehow.
Book two of Twilight involves an infamous love triangle. Well, guess what this is?
Written for kids, but has a lot of relatively detailed gore at the end and references to sex. Yet also makes jokes that twelve year olds would find funny. Confusing who this is for.

ARGH HELEN, YOU GOTTA BE WITH ORION NO MATTER WHAT! If you two don't end up together, I will volunteer myself to be with him! Seriously, why bother being with someone weaker than you? Mwahahahahaha, JK, Lucas, I still love you. Anyway, back to the point, I see a lot of improvements in this book! Great job, Angelini, I feel like crying happy tears. The plot is wayyyy moree understandable and straight to the point than the first book because it's more organized. The action scenes are AWESOME. I literally CAN'T STOP READING this book especially during the fight... My favorite scene is right at the end of the book during Helen's capture because I can actually FEEL Helen's desperation when she struggled so badly to say her message. I was like, "OHMYGOD, HELEN, JUST HEAL ALREADY AND TELL THEM THE TRUTH." ( I really need to stop using caps lock btw). The scene of the River of Lethe is also hilarious.
And yessssssssss, I AM TEAM ORION!! I love him! He's my favorite character in the series now! I usually like guys who come to get the girls first (like Twilight's Edward, or Vampire Academy's Dmitri, etc), but the case with Orion here is different because even though Lucas got Helen first, Orion captured my heart. Orion is REALLY REALLY lovable. He is strong, dangerous, protective and definitely the hottest guy ever described (absolutely swoon-worthy!). His powers are just the most amazing thing ever and it is amazing that even though he can control people's mind, he won't do it negatively. I really love that part of him. Gives me hope that not all humans are manipulative and dangerous. Plus, I always have a soft spot for guys with a terrible, dark past. I think Helen is going to end up with Luke, but it's not wrong to hope right? GO ORION!
The only thing that slightly bothered me is the first quarter of the book where Helen had to "descend" aimlessly, with or without Orion. The plot is kinda pointless and slow. In fact, it made me stopped reading for awhile, but that's not a serious problem because the ending is SO WORTH IT. However, I do think that there is a better way to expose Ares rather than to let Morpheus (the god who knows all dreams) tell Helen about it. It seems to easy and it definitely made Helen look stupid and careless. Probably having more scenes of Ares and Helen or Ares with somebody else in the book will be better to show that Ares is an important character. I know probably the author wants the whole Ares thing to be a surprise, but that just doesn't work too well. Also, I just don't get how everyone (note: the Delos and Daphne) can be so selfless, but SO ignorant at Helen's condition. Helen is IN PAIN, for god's sake. How could they live their lives happily and command her however they like? I know that no one can do anything to help release Helen's pain but at least they should ask how she's doing or give her assurances rather than to tell her she's bitchy (note: get a mirror! You're the one bitching Helen around!). Cassandra and Jason too. Jason, you HEAL PEOPLE, but I don't understand how you don't really feel bad for Helen. I think at least each of the characters should talk a bit about Helen's condition and pity her.
But overall, I think it's a great read. I really can't wait to read the third book of the series. Looking forward to more action and war! I really hope Helen will be taught to fight without her Scion powers so I can see her strive against some oversized powerful god.

uh oh yet again I have spent all day reading. I love this series so much I am willing to ignore the fact that none of the characters can do maths and work out how impossible it is for helen and luke to be related. I think its pretty obvious that as spon as they find out the truth they will get back together poor Orion doesn't have a chance bless him :'(.
