I'm not a fan of plays generally, but I love this play. Though the book is about incest, I can't help but love it and find it interesting and funny- as well as shocking. It's a juicy play and one you will probably cringe at

Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet... if they were brother and sister, and the verse was easier to digest.

Nothing to do with the Bowie song, and everything to do with incest. That said, it’s a romp!

I think this is a fantastic Caroline drama. This play shows the massive sophistication and growth of theatre. This was published when puritans were closing theatres as they were considered to promote immoral behavior. Tis' Pity is a very racy play about incest. We are left with a feeling that justice had not truly been given for the murder of Annabella when the cardinal says: Who could not say, 'Tis pity she's a whore?" After all, Annabella had been manipulated by her brother.
