If you, like me, were seriously underwhelmed by the Prince Adam reveal in Disney's BatB, then this might be for you.

Following the same sort of formula as the original fairytale (ie given/taken by the beast, Belle's dad being the centre of her being forced into the beasts arms, the torchlit hunt for the beast) the common themes are the same HOWEVER the beast isn't cursed and doesn't transform to a blonde weak ass Prince 😂

The monster girlies will 100% be here for it, non-monster readers will find it an acquired taste 😂

It's very graphic, if you catch my drift, so if you're not into that I'd give it a swerve.

My only issue with the book was I felt we didn't get to see enough of them together initially to see the actual romance form so I'm more inclined to stick it in the far end of the erotic romance subgenre.

Also, they kept referring to each other as husband and wife and I don't actually remember a marriage happening.

I never thought that being a die-hard (albeit new) fan of monster romance would lead me to read a short retelling novel in which the beast has never been and never will be a human prince. Most of all, that I'd like it... I found the idea of this retelling interesting but found both the plot and the relationship between the characters short and rushed. If it had been +100 pages longer, it would have fixed those problems but you also have to take into account that it is a short novel.

“You’re not what I expected,”
      “You are everything I envisioned.”

The Beast is a new release by Jenika Snow and the first book I’ve read of hers. It is a Beauty and the Beast AU Retelling in which the Beast never turns human.

The novella was good but I felt it could’ve been better, which disappointed me because all the kinks mentioned within the story were right up my alley. My only critique for the book would be the repetition and lack of build up for the relationship. When it came to dirty talk, the constant use of “you’ll be all mine” and “I’ll fill your womb with my young” every other paragraph per chapter made it kind of boring. Which is saying something because I love a good possessive MMC with a breeding kink! I just felt like the repeated phrases made the novella fall a little flat in the kink aspect when it came to dirty talk. Not to mention he would only refer to Belle as “wife” and although that’s cute I think he could’ve switched it up a bit yk? I just wish the nicknames and dirty talk was at least paraphrased through the story and perhaps a little dirtier seeing as the MMC is a literal beast 🤷🏻‍♀️ As for the build up I know it’s a novella but a smidge of angst couldn’t hurt within the first couple chapters instead of instant attraction, especially since it started out one sided. The writing felt kind of rushed which makes the story a genuinely fast paced book considering how short it is.
Other than that I love how Belle and the Beast’s story ended and I’m happy to see some plus size FMC rep (given her curvy description that’s how I pictured Belle).

**ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN** This novella is one I would recommend to people who like a quick read with great spice so if what I’ve mentioned doesn’t bother you, please give this book a read!
