Beauty and the beast retellings are always interesting to see what an author will take from the Disney movie and what they will take from the original tale and how they present the Beast.

This book was just perfect for what needed during the month. It is just short enough that I was able to sit down and read without looking at the book and thinking that I don't have time, and also just an enjoyable read that I needed during a very busy and stressful time. You can't go wrong with a short spicy novella read.
I wouldn't say the spice is overly spicy, there is a thing or two that might turn people off but the scenes themselves were only mild spicy to maybe medium spicy for me. In saying that with this being a shorter read the spice does take up a bit of the page count. Something to keep in mind if you don't want something that have a high page count for spice in comparison with the rest of the book.

Characters 1-dimensional, horny individuals. 2 sex scenes end of the book are okay, so I gave it 2 stars.

This is exactly what it says it is. Mind all of the content warnings found on the author's website. (I've copied them below in a spoiler tag) It was alright and I got exactly what was described. It didn't blow me away but I sure did read it. I wasn't in love with the characters by the end or anything but they served their purpose. The brief plot is basically the Disney movie but modified for especially raunchy monster smut.

The one thing I will note is that I liked that Belle was described as having a "soft, rounded belly" because that's not used as a positive descriptor for women very often.

Beauty & the beast is one of my top disney film and i’m known for being very protective of it but all things holy i loved this book!! But i love how this novel demonstrated how Belle loved the beast before he was human 💛

It felt like it was written just for me 😂 didn’t miss a single one of my kinks … and you know what i was always a lil disappointed when beast turned into a human again cause he was so much cuter as a beast …

Spicy scale: 3.5/5

For the most part I liked it. The only book I've read of Jenika Snow was "Big Bad Wolf", I didn't like her writing (repetitive and weird confusing sentences) and unnecessary plot. Finally read this book after seeing it every where on tik tok as being a true monster erotica book, and I'm happy I did. I liked this book a lot more, the writing is much better and there was just enough plot to serve the smut.

Speaking of smut... The steamy scenes were hot and spicy, and Beasts's appearance and behavior make it a 100% monster erotica novel. The fur, the horns, the tail, the spit, the chase,... loved it.

My main complaint is not enough spicy scenes between the two protagonists when we have two practically identical scenes of Beast's solo sessions. I wouldn't have minded a slightly longer book if it meant more spicy scenes between Beast and Belle. Also, kinda didn't like that the male lead's name is Beast.

I was surprised at how short this was ! Unfortunately, it didn't really hit the mark for me. I felt like the dialogue was very repetitive to where I'm pretty sure there's a scene where the dialogue is copy/pasted from earlier.

There were a few moments in this book that were actually turn-offs for me instead.
Like when Belle got turned on by Beast murdering an entire group of men, including pulling the heart out of someones chest and giving it to her. As well as in the epilogue when he spits and splooges on her ass, and consideres that enough prep for anal sex. As someone who has had anal sex, scenes like that just make me cringe.

As for the spicy scenes, there is so much buildup to actual penetration, but then that part feels almost skipped over ? I was a bit confused at how glossed over the actual penetration was after everything else is described so much more in depth.

Overall, there are a few good scenes here, but I just found myself rolling my eyes way more than I would want in a book like this.

“You’re not what I expected,”
      “You are everything I envisioned.”

The Beast is a new release by Jenika Snow and the first book I’ve read of hers. It is a Beauty and the Beast AU Retelling in which the Beast never turns human.

The novella was good but I felt it could’ve been better, which disappointed me because all the kinks mentioned within the story were right up my alley. My only critique for the book would be the repetition and lack of build up for the relationship. When it came to dirty talk, the constant use of “you’ll be all mine” and “I’ll fill your womb with my young” every other paragraph per chapter made it kind of boring. Which is saying something because I love a good possessive MMC with a breeding kink! I just felt like the repeated phrases made the novella fall a little flat in the kink aspect when it came to dirty talk. Not to mention he would only refer to Belle as “wife” and although that’s cute I think he could’ve switched it up a bit yk? I just wish the nicknames and dirty talk was at least paraphrased through the story and perhaps a little dirtier seeing as the MMC is a literal beast 🤷🏻‍♀️ As for the build up I know it’s a novella but a smidge of angst couldn’t hurt within the first couple chapters instead of instant attraction, especially since it started out one sided. The writing felt kind of rushed which makes the story a genuinely fast paced book considering how short it is.
Other than that I love how Belle and the Beast’s story ended and I’m happy to see some plus size FMC rep (given her curvy description that’s how I pictured Belle).

**ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN** This novella is one I would recommend to people who like a quick read with great spice so if what I’ve mentioned doesn’t bother you, please give this book a read!
