*It’s Called a Breakup Because It’s Broken* by Greg Behrendt and Amira Ruotola-Behrendt offers a candid, humorous, and empowering guide to getting over a breakup. With Greg's comedic background and Amira's straightforward insights, the book provides practical advice while helping readers maintain their self-esteem during the often painful process of moving on.

The book is filled with relatable anecdotes, tough love, and plenty of humor, making it feel more like a conversation with a brutally honest friend than a self-help guide. Greg and Amira don't sugarcoat the truth—they emphasize that if a relationship has ended, it's for a reason, and no amount of wishing or waiting will change that. Their message is clear: it's time to accept the breakup, focus on healing, and take steps toward building a better future.

What makes this book stand out is its blend of humor and wisdom. The authors manage to keep the tone light and entertaining while still delivering valuable insights. They offer practical tips for dealing with the immediate aftermath of a breakup, such as avoiding contact with your ex and leaning on friends for support. They also address the emotional aspects of a breakup, helping readers understand that it's okay to grieve and that the pain won't last forever.

The book includes exercises and checklists to help readers work through their emotions and regain their confidence. It's not just about surviving a breakup—it's about thriving afterward. Greg and Amira encourage readers to focus on self-care, pursue their passions, and recognize their own worth.

While *It’s Called a Breakup Because It’s Broken* may not offer groundbreaking psychological insights, its strength lies in its relatability and approachability. It's a book that can make you laugh, even in the midst of heartbreak, and remind you that better days are ahead. If you're looking for a comforting and empowering guide to getting over a breakup, this book is a solid choice.

Listened via Audible & hard copy, given away.

I found this book after a bad break up and decided to finally read it when going through another breakup later on. It’s a cute compilation of breakup stories and advice.

My favorite part was the change of mindset about enjoying your time alone with being single cause you ever know when it will be the last time you’re alone. That your person is gonna be right around the corner.

Definitely what one needs to hear after/during a break-up. Plus I loved the crossword puzzle.
