This book is hard for me to review. I really enjoyed most of it and it had me sobbing at 2 AM, but I have issues with the way Elliot’s trauma was swept under the rug. He was clearly r*ped but even after learning what happened, Macy referred to it as cheating. I don’t understand why the author would have done this unless they themselves don’t understand the severity of the situation they wrote. Elliot was passed out drunk, unable to consent, and didn’t even know what had happened until someone told him several days later. And the author is trying to pass it off as “accidental cheating”?? It would have been a 4 star book if this plot line was better handled, but I just can’t get over it.

It took me a while to finish it, I guess I was savoring the book as a whole because it has become so comforting. I liked the pacing and just how the first half of book was written. This has to be one of my favorite tropes that I did enjoy especially how it was written in this book in particular although I didn’t really understand why the issues in the book were brushed over to make way for ending because it seemed so rushed which was disappointing because I really did enjoy it until the last parts of the book. Overall, the quotes? I would want it tattooed on me.
