This was....not it.
I think my main problem is the hero. He irritated me for most of this book. I guess he was supposed to give off a grumpy sheriff vibe, and he did. But it was annoying, not endearing. His temper annoyed the hell out of me. He kept telling the heroine what to do. Yes, she retaliated and fought for her voice but to be honest, I felt like it wasn't enough and she's better off without him. Needless to say, I did not root for this romance at all.
Also, at the middle of the story, things started to slow down. Like really slow down. I didn't know where the hell the story was going and then suddenly, a suspenseful situation happens at the very end. So as far as pacing goes, not great.
Despite my rant of a review, I think I'm still going to continue with this series. This series is supposed to be really good and I'm still holding on to the hope that it really is. I mean as far as this author's writing is concerned, it's promising. Plus I'm a big fan of small town romances.
