4.5 stars. This book was really interesting. It's essentially about two twins, Noah and Jude, and details how their relationship changes over time. It has a lot of insight into relationships and life in general. Noah and Jude were really intricate characters, and it was really interesting to see how and why their personalities changed. However, some of the characters (read: Oscar) were a little bit stereotypical (but I didn't mind that much). As for the plot, it's a really interesting coming-of-age story where the twins (Especially Noah, but also Jude) are trying to figure out who they really are. Noah deals with his sexuality, while Jude tries to navigate the many superstitions she believes in. There were so many shocking plot points, and I truly had no idea what was going to happen next. Anyway, on to the overall book. BE FOREWARNED, both twins are artists, and so their points of view have a lot of really artistic language. Some of the phrases are reminiscent of poetry in the style of writing. Case in point: "I can see people's souls sometimes when I draw them... Jude and me have one soul between us that we have to share: a tree with its leaves on fire". I really liked this style of writing, but I could understand if others didn't like it. In Noah's sections of the book, there are also various "paintings" that Noah uses to describe the events of the book. An example: "Portrait, Self-Portrait: Twins, the Flashlight and the Flashdark. This is a bit strange at first, but I think it definitely adds to the story once you get used to it. Overall, I really liked this book and I think it's definitely a worthwhile read.

I loved this book for so many reasons! Firstly, I picked it up because I thought it was all about a story about a family with twins with some problems but it's so much more than that...
This book represents the hazards of life, love, grief, mistakes, regrets, the importance of family...anyways I 100% recommend this book!

I loved this book, why is YA always so good?! I really liked the characters of Jude and Noah, and how each of their chapters had a unique aspect to them. The story was really compelling and kept drawing me in as I went along. I think this book was just the pick-me-up that I needed. (Read for Central Book Club)

Goodness gracious this book knocked the wind out of me and I’m reeling. Such a heartbreaking and gorgeous story. I will forever root for these twins.
