You don't get many Mummy romances, so this is fun. The conflict makes it interesting.

Wrapped Up in You by Dan Jolley is the sixth volume in the My Boyfriend is a Monster series of graphic novels. This one reads like a gender swap version of "Inca Mummy Girl" (Season 2, Episode 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Why do our minds always automatically go to Egypt at the mention of mummies? I suppose it's just so prominent within our history that it makes sense to think of the most shown mummies. However, this segment dealt with an Incan mummy, one from Central America, and I know someone who could talk your ears off about mummies of all kinds. But I digress.
While I did enjoy this one, I felt the witches in this volume were rather annoying. I felt a hint of The Craft while reading it, and my fingers were itching to flick away the nuisances. The paramour was fascinating, especially when describing the mummification process as well as WHY he was mummified.
Another good segment of My Boyfriend is a Monster.

So this was an interesting twist on the Mummy monster story. This time he is a mesoamerican mummy, that was mummified on a cold mountaintop with less oxygen (as the book so helpfully explains at the end). The art was a style that I really enjoy: not super-artsy, not super-realistic, but not super-manga-y, a happy medium in between. Good times!
