I had to read a book of poetry for a reading challenge. My husband and daughter like Mary Oliver, so I thought I'd do this one. First, I don't like most poetry and will never read it unless I have to. Second, why did I pick such a long book of poetry! Third, while I liked a few of the poems, I found most boring and/or confusing. Poetry is just not my thing.

Great collection of Mary Oliver's work. I love how much reading her poems makes me more mindful of my surroundings and take nature less for granted. Slight knock on the stars since some of her older work has some poems about Indigenous people that feel like she's exoticizing them.

I have read other collections of her poems and this one seemed to be mostly depressing.

In her nature poetry, Oliver becomes a death poet too, and that is what I most love about this collection
