3.5 stars. Good story, loved the characters. Even though there’s a lot of characters I was able to keep track of who was who. Kept guessing right till the end. Great vacation read.

I’ve seen Elin Hilderbrand novels for years at bookstores and at the library and known how popular they were but this was the first I read. It was a delightful. I loved the setting; Nantucket reminds me of a more expensive northern Michigan. The mystery was satisfying and realistic. I sort of wish I had more closure with the characters or that they changed their lives but I think the point is that they are unlikely to. I’m happy for Celeste.

If you are looking for drama, this is the book for you. I find it hard to believe but it actually kept my attention really well. My problem is that we spend hundreds of pages reading a billion details from 7+ different peoples perspectives then are given a one page ending that’s supposed to wrap it all up. Not only that, but we follow characters pursuing a romance we start to root for only for it to be completely forgotten about and pushed to the side at the end. The ending left so many things unresolved and just felt so unsatisfying. Also wouldn’t recommend if you, like me, take issue with infidelity because there is A LOT of it in here. That’s practically what the whole story is about. I’m sure plenty of people would enjoy this book but it’s just not for me. 3.25 stars.

I loved this audiobook! I wish the end went a little faster, but other than that it was great! A great mystery beach read!
