It wasn't that bad but it wasn't good either. The main female character irked me and the only character I liked got killed at the end.

3.5 stars. This started out really strong. I love descriptive imagery. But not a whole lot happens. And I wish we had more background information about Auren and Midas’ relationship. Like how did they get to this point?
But I’m interested in the story, and I’ve heard the books get better and better so here’s hoping.

I struggled for the first 100 or so pages. I wanted to give up and never come back to this book, but I forced myself and the second half of the book hooked me up. I feel now I need to read the rest of the series. The plot was for me a bit predictable but well written. 4 stars because of those first pages that just made me cringe and I was forcing myself to read it.
