Beautiful, complex descriptions of ice in all its forms. It's kind of weird in places.

What a beautiful book! In the beginning, I was feeling a bit disappointed because I had high expectations. But I ended up loving this book. The writing is gorgeous, and I love the way the author plays around with structure and narrative. This book is written through a child's gaze, their magical way of viewing the world, which ends us up with a lot of gorgeous descriptions. I loved the metaphor of this book, it works so well. It's kind of genius!!

The chapter where Unn explores the ice palace is beautiful, yet so haunting to think that she was alone during those moments.

I feel as though I followed the same emotional journey as Siss, and I cried when she finally broke her promise. It was as if only then had I realized what had really happened at the ice palace.
